Wind farm wakes play a critical role in shaping energy yield, uncertainty, and interactions between neighbouring projects. In this talk, Pieter Gebraad and Katherine Dykes explore recent advances in wake modelling and analysis, with a focus on their implications for wind farm layout design and wind farm clustering. Pieter will present Youwind’s capabilities for analysing and managing wake effects, while Katherine will synthesize key insights emerging from leading research institutions. The session concludes with a brief introduction to an upcoming wind farm design course co-taught by the speakers, connecting the latest research and tools to practical design workflows.
