Streamlining early-stage development

Youwind’s innovative technology streamlines and optimises the initial phases of offshore wind project development, reducing early-stage development timelines by up to 80%.

We look at offshore wind developments holistically. Our approach integrates engineering and cost data to efficiently model key technical and financial indicators and assess the viability of projects.

Our web-based tools – Youwind Model, Pixel, PixelPark and OptiWindow – encompass each phase of the early-stage screening process. They relied upon by leading players to inform the financing and development of projects that meet the financial expectations of investors.

To date, Youwind has been used to analyse over 1000 offshore wind project sites worldwide, from Europe to the deep waters off California and Japan. This has involved 10,000 simulations for over 250TW of potential installed capacity – enough to supply 578 million households and mitigate 447 tons of CO2.

Informing critical project decisions

Youwind maintains a unique, component, GIS and wind resource database to support reliable and efficient decision making.

Our library covers all wind farm components from turbines to substations, export and inter-array cabling. We hold power curve data for more than 50 different turbine types, validated against existing projects. And our library of GIS layers includes over 20 countries with the highest offshore wind potential

We also have an exclusive integration with Vortex FDC, giving our users access to market-leading wind resource data that reduces the uncertainty of energy yield assessments.

We make it very straightforward to input your own data, change variables and customise the database to meet the specific needs of your team. This data is treated with strict confidentiality – helping you ensure that your unique knowledge stays within your business.

Our Team

EDVALD EDVALDSSON

CTO and Co-Founder

Edvald is a Mechanical & Energy Engineer 
from the Royal Institute of Technology in Sweden. He has a broad experience from the offshore
wind power industry from Ørsted (Denmark) and from the financial industry (UK and Iceland).
Edvald has worked as a lead consultants for both
project developers and wind turbine
manufacturers since 2017.​

He is an expert in layout design and yield
calculations, wind resource assessments, technical project development and financial evaluation.​

Edvald has been involved in the Engineering and
financial modelling of our IT-platform
and nowadays the leads the overall IT-solution
platform development and owns the technical
roadmap of the company.

ANNA RIVERA

CEO and Co-Founder

Anna is a Mechanical and Energy Engineer 
from UPC in Barcelona, Royal Institute of 
Technology  in Sweden and is also holding a MSc in Wind Power from The technical University 
in Denmark, DTU.​

Anna built up her career in the offshore wind 
industry inside Siemens Gamesa from 2010,
where she’s developed real-scale prototypes 
validation, design work and leading engineering
teams inside R&D.​

Anna has supported the core modelling
and development of Youwind platform but
nowaday she leads all commercial efforts in the
company as well as the overall company strategy.

VIKTOR SMÁRI ÁGÚSTUSON

Chief Algorithm Architect

Viktor holds a degree in computer science from the University of Iceland.​

Viktor Smari is a full stack software developer
with a broad experience in Ruby-on Rails
 and Javascript, together with his expertise
 in usability thanks to his past experience in
optimizing online gaming platforms.​

Viktor oversees our software development and makes sure the calculations and modeling works every day, as well as ensuring that client data are kept secured.

ANNA CARMEN MASOLIVER

Business Developer

Anna Carmen Masoliver is an Industrial Engineer with an MBA.  Anna Carmen is a multidisciplinary professional with more than 10 years of experience in the energy sector: in energy efficiency and management and in the gas sector, where she developed different roles in operations, procurement, and finance. Anna Carmen supports the commercial activity as well as the growth strategy of our company.

THOMAS S. LOKKEN

R&D Engineer and
Application Developer

Thomas holds an M. Sc. in aerospace engineering with a specialization in wind turbine aerodynamics at TU Delft. With experience in R&D and development of renewable energy projects, Thomas brings the two sides of knowledge to understand the platform to its core. During his studies, Thomas also worked as a full-stack web developer as a side job, combining all three business cores of Youwind into one. 

Focused on realizing the best combination of theory, application, and efficiency, Thomas will dedicate his energy to the European research SUDOCO and the platform’s development.

PIETER M. O. GEBRAAD

Chief Development Engineer

Pieter holds a PhD in Controls Engineering from TU Delft and was a post doctoral researcher in
 advanced controls development at NREL, being a developer of the FLORIS wake model. At Siemens
 Gamesa he worked as a wind farm control and optimization engineer, working with the Wake Adapt function in wind turbines controls.

Pieter performs development work on Youwind IT-systems’ platform, bringing the next generation of wake and layout design for both bottom-fixed
 and floating wind farms. Pieter is also the technical lead on all Youwinds’ research Projects we are developing with different renkowned consortia over Europe.

JESUS RAMOS VALDIVIA

Marketing &
Commercial Specialist

​Jesus studied Industrial Engineering in Peru, and after a few years, he complemented his career and experience with an MBA at EAE Business School in Barcelona.​

Jesus has been working for more than 10 years in SaaS companies in different industries. He has developed different commercial and growth marketing strategies, so he brings high value to the company’s marketing strategy, in addition to driving commercial efforts to address the high demand for our IT solution and current market development.

JAMES T. MILNE

Technical Advisor​

James holds a Master in Mathematics from Durham University, graduating in 2016. After a year in the banking sector, James has been in the wind industry since 2017 and brings a wealth of knowledge as a wind farm analyst. He’s successfully tackled on-shore and off-shore bankable yield analyses, contributing to both pre-construction and operational wind farms’ success. James manages technical customer support responsibilities, assisting our clients to get the most of our platform, while boosting Youwind’s development efforts to increase our product’s quality and implement the best suggestions from our client portfolio.​

CAROLINA R. NIELSEN

Business Developer

Carolina holds a Master’s degree in Sustainability. Prior to joining Youwind, she worked at a multinational consulting firm, where she developed a five-year strategic roadmap for social sustainability. Additionally, she has experience in the educational sector, having served as a sales representative for a business school.

With several years of experience and an international perspective, Carolina enhances the company’s business development efforts and strengthens client relationships.

SERGI ROMA

Business Developer

Sergi joined Youwind in 2024 to strengthen the business development area of the company, with a special focus on supporting key accounts and partnerships. He holds a Physics degree from the University of Barcelona and a Master of Science in Wind Energy from the Technical University of Denmark. ​

With over 15 years of professional experience, Sergi has developed his career working as a technology specialist and product development manager, as well as performing business development functions for a diverse set of companies within the Onshore and Offshore Wind Energy sector, such as Wind Turbine Manufacturers (Alstom-GE, Siemens Gamesa, Enercon), Consultants and Developers (COWI, Orsted) or Floating Lidar Systems manufacturers (Eolos Floating Solutions).

ANDREW THOM

Finance and Board Assistant

Currently studying Economics at Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona,  bringing to Youwind support in finance, combined with strong analytical skills, he contributes valuable insights to our team. Andrew is especially passionate about the start-up ecosystem and is drawn to the challenges and opportunities that it implies, as well as the collaborative spirit it fosters—qualities that align closely with Youwind’s innovative culture. Andrew started at Youwind with work focused on brand strategy, market insights, positioning, and content generation. Now he focuses on supporting the finance side of the business and assists the board on company strategic matters.

PRATIBHA YADAV

Business Developer

Armed with a Ph.D. degree in Biotechnology, Pratibha has ventured into managerial positions right after defending her thesis from JIIT Noida, India. Prior to taking up her current role as a business developer for the Asia Pacific region (APAC), she worked as a project manager in the international relations office of IIT Bombay. During her stay as a project manager, she played an important role in bringing in engaging and initiating new collaborations between IIT Bombay and other prestigious universities across the world. Capitalizing on her research capabilities, as well as strong communication and presentation skills, she co-ordinates different outreach programs with international partner universities as well as delegations from the ministries visiting the institute.
