Supporting Early-Stage Offshore Wind Assessments: Elbe1 working with Youwind

Elbe1 GmbH | Renewable Energy Advisors is collaborating with Youwind in the context of supervising a master’s thesis within its Strategy & Bidding activities. Within this framework, the platform is used to support early-stage offshore wind screening analyses. 

As part of this thesis project, Elbe1 is assessing how digital modelling environments can contribute to structured and transparent bid preparation. In this context, Youwind is applied to analyse wind resource data, wake effects, layout scenarios and indicative LCOE assumptions within a consistent modelling environment.

“We think this is an important tool to streamline early-stage project screening and bidding decisions in the context of this research work. The focus is on ensuring transparency of assumptions and consistency between technical design and financial modelling,” says Till von Petersdorff, Director Strategy & Bidding at Elbe1.

Focus on Methodology and Integration

At the core of the collaboration is the supervision of a thesis examining the interface between technical wind farm design and financial modelling in early development phases. The research analyses how assumptions, modelling workflows and data structures interact, with the aim of improving transparency and consistency in bid-related decision-making.

The insights gained are intended to further strengthen methodological clarity in early-stage assessments and support consistent technical input in competitive bidding contexts.
