Youwind Newsletter March 26 Edition
Welcome to the March edition of the Youwind newsletter
Each month, we’ll bring you the latest key developments in wind project design, product updates from our platform, company news, and a look at what our team has been working on. You’ll also find upcoming webinars, events, and insights shaping the future of wind development.
Youwind: Integrating BESS into Wind Design
Grid constraints, curtailment, and revenue volatility make hybridisation essential. But most tools still treat wind and BESS separately, which limits optimisation from day one.
That’s why Youwind now integrates Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) directly into its wind farm design platform. Wind, electrical infrastructure, and storage can now be assessed together — from the very start.
To celebrate this launch, we’re hosting a 45-minute webinar that introduces the industry’s first web-based SaaS platform for hybrid wind and BESS design.
You’ll learn how to:
- Optimise layouts with storage included
- Strengthen your business case earlier
- Reduce redesign risks
- Improve discussions with grid operators and investors
Date: 10 March 2026

Youwind in Asia
Youwind Co-Founders Edvald Edvaldsson and Anna Rivera Jové will be in Tokyo from 17–19 March attending Smart Energy Week at the EU Business Hub booth (E33–36, East Hall 7) within the EU Green Transition Pavilion.
During the event, we will be meeting clients and industry experts to showcase how Youwind is improving the development of both onshore and offshore wind projects, from early-stage design to optimisation. For us, this is a valuable opportunity to connect in person with our Japanese clients and build new relationships in the region.
We are proud to have been selected by the EU–Japan Centre for Industrial Cooperation to participate in this Green Mission and to exhibit at one of the most important renewable energy trade fairs in APAC.
Following Japan, our Asia tour continues to Hanoi (Vietnam) and Manila (Philippines). In these markets, we will be meeting with developers, exploring how Youwind can support their wind projects, reconnecting with clients, and participating in a technical workshop co-organised with VORTEX.
Youwind-Vortex Technical Workshop: Developing wind projects in Vietnam?
On 24 March 2026 in Hanoi, VortexFDC and Youwind are hosting an exclusive half-day seminar bringing together validated wind data and integrated digital workflows.
During this seminar you’ll learn how to:
- Integrate bankable wind data directly into development platforms
- Streamline layout, GIS, yield, and financial modelling
- Reduce uncertainty in onshore and offshore projects
Speakers:
- Dhanaji Patil (Vortex)
- Anna Rivera Jové (CEO & Co-Founder, Youwind)
- Edvald Edvaldsson (CTO & Co-Founder, Youwind)
Time & Date: Hanoi, 24th March 2026, 10:00–13:00
Free – limited seats (registration approval required)
Smarter Electrical Design in Youwind
We’ve introduced several important upgrades to the electrical module, making cable design more automated, balanced and aligned with real project constraints.
What’s new?
- More accurate export cable length calculations
Elevation and depth profiles are now automatically included, improving precision for both onshore and offshore projects. - Balanced array cable strings
Turbines are now distributed more evenly across cable strings, resulting in more practical and cost-efficient layouts. - New radial layout option
In addition to the existing branched configuration, you can now generate radial array layouts for more controlled network design. - Automatic export cable routing
Export cables can now be generated while considering exclusion zones and turbine protection areas — streamlining offshore transmission planning. - Advanced array cable generator
The upgraded solver can account for development area constraints, exclusion zones and export cable crossings — supporting more realistic layouts from early-stage design.
These enhancements are designed to help developers create more robust and optimised electrical designs — directly within the same collaborative platform used for wind farm modelling.
Spain moves forward with Offshore wind
The Spanish Ministry for Ecological Transition (MITECO) has launched a public consultation to define Spain’s first offshore wind auction framework. The consultation addresses key aspects such as area selection and auctioned capacity, support schemes and timelines, grid access and use of the maritime domain, as well as decommissioning requirements for future projects.
This initiative supports Spain’s target of 1–3 GW of offshore wind by 2030. With much of Spain’s coastline in deep waters, floating wind technology will play a crucial role in achieving these targets. The development of offshore wind is expected to unlock significant opportunities for the country’s energy transition, attract new investments, and drive industrial growth in the renewable energy sector.
