Welcome to the May edition of the Youwind newsletter

Each month, we’ll bring you the latest key developments in wind project design, product updates from our platform, company news, and a look at what our team has been working on. You’ll also find upcoming webinars, events, and insights shaping the future of wind development.

Events & Fairs: WindEurope 2026

WindEurope has wrapped up after a great few days, bringing together industry experts, clients, and new prospects.

It was an excellent opportunity to reconnect, exchange ideas, and discuss the challenges and opportunities shaping the future of wind energy.

Here are some of the highlights from the conference:

Day 1

Day one at WindEurope set the tone: Europe must accelerate in the energy transition.

Over the course of the day, key speakers, including Anna Rivera Jové, Bernardo Castro Valerio, and Pedro Sánchez Pérez-Castejón emphasized the urgency of moving faster both for sustainability and energy independence.

Youwind was part of this conversation, with Bernardo Castro Valerio presenting on North Sea MTDC grid expansion, highlighting the growing importance of forward-looking transmission planning.

Day 2

Across meetings and sessions, one theme stood out on day 2 of the conference: hybridization. The integration of wind and BESS is becoming central to delivering more flexible and resilient energy projects.

At Youwind, conversations focused on approaching these projects more holistically, by aligning technical design and business case from the early stages of project design.

The day also reinforced the importance of collaboration, closing with a networking event co-hosted with VORTEX.

Day 3

The final day started at the Youwind stand with a networking breakfast alongside the Capital BlueWind Consortium, creating space for conversations with partners.

Sessions throughout the day highlighted the importance of digital tools and integrated engineering:

  • At Delfos Energy, Nathianne Andrade and Anna Rivera Jové explored digital solutions from design to operations.
  • At ESTEYCO, Daniel García Jiménez, Carlos Fernández and Edvald Edvaldsson presented a case study on optimizing onshore wind.

A strong close to the event, reinforcing one key idea: collaboration is essential to accelerating the energy transition.

Events & Fairs: PULSE 2026

At PULSE 2026 in Madrid, our CEO Anna Rivera Jové joined industry leaders to discuss the evolving role of energy storage.

One message stood out: hybridisation is no longer a concept; it is being applied in real time.

The discussions highlighted a clear shift in how wind projects are being approached. Storage is no longer seen as an add-on, but as a key element in project design, driven by grid constraints, price volatility, and the need for system stability.

At Youwind, this is a key focus of our work, integrating wind, grid, and BESS from the very early stages of project design.

Events & Fairs: Workshop

On May 20–21, we are hosting an in-person workshop in central Madrid focused on practical insights from industry experts.

The course will cover key drivers in onshore wind farm design, as well as a pragmatic approach to hybridization with BESS. Attendees will also gain exposure to the latest technologies in both turbines and energy storage. Speakers include professionals from Vestas, Siemens Energy, Envision, and GE Vernova.

The workshop will be conducted in Spanish and will also offer excellent networking opportunities with confirmed national and international developers.

Limited seats available.
