Technical Workshop in Taipei: Connecting Wind Data, Design and Construction Planning
On 29 October, Youwind joined forces with VORTEX and Shoreline Wind for a technical workshop in Taipei, bringing together professionals from Taiwan’s wind energy sector to explore how connected digital solutions can simplify and improve onshore and offshore wind project development.
Led by Dhanaji Patil, Sales Manager Asia at VORTEX; Anna Rivera Jové, CEO and Founder of Youwind; and Yutaka Nishijima, Customer Success Manager at Shoreline Wind, the workshop demonstrated how wind resource assessment, wind farm design, construction and operations planning can be connected through a seamless digital workflow.
Using a practical project example, participants explored the entire process: from selecting reliable wind resource data with VORTEX, to site selection, layout optimization, energy yield assessments and project economics with Youwind, and finally construction simulations and O&M planning with Shoreline Wind. The sessions highlighted how project information can flow between platforms, reducing manual handovers and enabling more efficient decision-making throughout the project lifecycle.
At Youwind, we believe that successful wind energy development requires more than powerful individual tools. It requires a connected digital ecosystem built on collaboration with reliable, experienced partners. By combining complementary technologies and specialized industry expertise, we aim to provide our customers with integrated solutions that help them navigate the complexities of wind project development, from early-stage assessment through construction and operations.
This workshop was a great example of how strong partnerships can translate into practical value for the industry, helping developers streamline workflows, reduce complexity and make better-informed decisions.
A big thank you to Dhanaji, Yutaka and Anna, our partners VORTEX and Shoreline Wind, everyone who joined us, and the Asia Wind Energy Association for supporting the event and contributing to such valuable discussions!

Youwind & OWC Webinar: Best Practices for Offshore Wind Farm Design in South Korea
How do South Korea‘s unique wind conditions, regulatory framework and site constraints influence offshore wind farm design and project economics?
Last month, Youwind and OWC joined forces for a webinar exploring the key challenges and opportunities of offshore wind development in South Korea, combining local market expertise with practical wind farm design and techno-economic analysis.
The session highlighted the importance of understanding South Korea’s distinctive seasonal wind patterns, particularly the influence of winter northwesterly and summer southwesterly monsoons. These conditions can create dominant wind directions that significantly influence turbine positioning, wake losses and overall project performance.
Through a practical bottom-fixed offshore wind case study using the Youwind platform, we demonstrated how wind resource data, GIS constraints, neighbouring wind farms and regulatory considerations can be integrated into layout optimization, cost estimation and LCOE analysis to support more informed project decisions.
The webinar featured Geonhwa Ryu, Principal Consultant at OWC, and Ignasi Badia Puyol from Youwind, bringing together local offshore wind expertise and digital project design capabilities.
Densify Borders: Make Every Meter of Your Wind Farm Count!
What if you could make better use of your development area by placing turbines beyond the limitations of traditional grid-based layouts?
With Youwind’s Densify Borders feature, wind farm developers can explore new layout possibilities by automatically positioning turbines along the boundaries of their development area, making better use of available space while maintaining control over turbine spacing and layout configuration.
The feature offers greater flexibility by allowing users to choose between grid-aligned and free border placement, customize minimum turbine spacing and define distances between border turbines and the inner grid.
Compatible with all four layout generation objectives, Densify Borders enables developers to explore different design strategies, from maximizing installed capacity to minimizing wake losses, while accounting for site-specific constraints.
This capability brings an additional level of flexibility and precision to wind farm layout optimization, helping developers explore the full potential of their available development area.

Windletter & Youwind: Breaking Down the Engineering and Economics of Floating Offshore Wind in the UK
What does it take to design a competitive floating offshore wind project in the UK, and how do engineering decisions translate into project economics?
In a two-part article series for Windletter, Sergio Fernandez Munguia explores the technical and economic considerations behind floating offshore wind development in the UK, using the Youwind platform to connect wind farm design with the financial analysis behind auction bids.
With a focus on the UK’s Allocation Round 7 (AR7), the articles take an engineering-driven approach to understanding how design assumptions, technical choices and project costs influence the economic feasibility and competitiveness of floating offshore wind projects.
Written by and for wind energy engineers, the series highlights the importance of bringing technical and financial assessments together. By using Youwind, Sergio demonstrates how digital tools can help translate engineering decisions into economic insights, supporting more transparent, informed and data-driven project evaluations.
A big thank you to Sergio and Windletter for sharing this valuable analysis and showcasing how Youwind can support the assessment of complex floating offshore wind projects.
